Spring is here, and that means irritating, airborne irritants and particles are in the air (among other things). But the quality of the air you’re breathing in your Elkhart home doesn’t have to be that way. If you take adequate steps to prepare your home and HVAC system, you can reduce the likelihood of allergies and illnesses developing, and you may even reduce exposure to further airborne particles and dust, which will keep you healthier and happier. It all starts with a quality HEPA filter.
Can your HEPA air filter help prevent you from catching a sickness? It depends. HEPA filters can’t protect you from a virus. There is also no guarantee that any HEPA air filter will prevent other illnesses, such as the flu, cold, or allergies. But a quality HEPA filter can increase your odds of not getting sick, when coupled with common sense best practices.
Based on Center for Disease Control and Prevention studies, industrial-grade air filters are producing positive results when it comes to hampering the spread of contaminants that float in the air. However, these systems are much more expensive than consumer-grade filters. HEPA filters for the home also continue to improve. There are several tests that have indicated the effectiveness of HEPA filters blocking mold spores, asbestos, odors, smoke and bacteria from your Elkhart indoor air. Yet, more than a few airborne diseases or viruses are too miniature for a HEPA filter to block them from passing in the air of a typical home.
HEPA filters can minimize the prospect of contracting a variety of illnesses associated with repeated exposure to fine particles kicked up from construction and other labor-intensive activities. For instance, if you’re remodeling areas of your space, enjoy a hobby that tends to kick up lots of dirt or chemicals, or if your home is nearby certain kinds of industries, installing a HEPA filter could keep them from fluttering throughout your home, thus helping to purify the air quality.
There are other air filtration to determine which option is best for you.
Remember, while a HEPA filter could possibly diminish your probability of contracting common airborne illnesses, it is no substitute for proper hygiene and the advice of medical professionals! Keep this information in mind as you look after your space and family.
