What Are Common Air Conditioning Problems?

  • No Cool Air

If you can hear your air conditioning system working but there isn’t cool air coming out, you could need to have your refrigerant levels checked. Refrigerant is what helps make sure the air blowing from your air conditioner is actually cool.   • Fan Won’t Rotate

The reason your condenser fan might not be rotating could be that it simply burned out and you require a replacement. Humidity can cause more condensation so another matter to watch for is that the water is not draining correctly or that the drain is restricted.   • Not Cooling Properly

First, try lowering the temperature on your thermostat. It sounds silly but sometimes we neglect the obvious. If that doesn’t get your A/C cooling, inspect the air filter. If the air filter is blocked, it could cause huge cooling troubles. Another problem that could cause your lack of cooling is that your AC equipment is not sized properly, and unfortunately this is a typical issue when homes are constructed.   • System is Short Cycling

If your AC is short cycling, or turning on or off constantly, it could mean one of several things. One is that your condenser or evaporator is dirty and requires cleaning. Remember that humidity also plays a piece so if your home cools to the right temperature, but then the humidity causes your home to warm up again, it could result in on-again, off-again air conditioning because the system is having to work harder to keep your home cool.
