What Are Common Air Conditioning Problems?

BW/Cook Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is here with some of the most typical A/C problems in Elkhart.

  • No Cool Air

If you can hear your air conditioning system working but there isn’t cool air coming out, you could need to have your refrigerant levels checked. Refrigerant is what helps make sure the air blowing from your air conditioner is actually cool. Call BW/Cook Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning and we’ll come out and examine your refrigerant levels and look into why your air conditioner is not producing cool air.

  • Fan Won’t Rotate

The reason your condenser fan might not be rotating could be that it simply burned out and you require a replacement. Humidity can cause more condensation so another matter to watch for is that the water is not draining correctly or that the drain is restricted. If you can confirm these things, you may be able to pinpoint the issue; if not, give BW/Cook Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning a call and we can find out what has stopped your condenser fan from rotating and go over your options to get your system up and running again.

  • Not Cooling Properly

First, try lowering the temperature on your thermostat. It sounds silly but sometimes we neglect the obvious. If that doesn’t get your A/C cooling, inspect the air filter. If the air filter is blocked, it could cause huge cooling troubles. Another problem that could cause your lack of cooling is that your AC equipment is not sized properly, and unfortunately this is a typical issue when homes are constructed. BW/Cook Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning will come out and do an analysis to determine if the size of your equipment is causing your troubles.

  • System is Short Cycling

If your AC is short cycling, or turning on or off constantly, it could mean one of several things. One is that your condenser or evaporator is dirty and requires cleaning. Once the unit is cleaned and all obstructions removed, you may be back in business. Remember that humidity also plays a piece so if your home cools to the right temperature, but then the humidity causes your home to warm up again, it could result in on-again, off-again air conditioning because the system is having to work harder to keep your home cool.

No matter your issue, whatever air conditioning trouble you run into, BW/Cook Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is here for you all day, every day so we can get your home comfortable quickly.
