We are trudging through the last of the weeks of winter but we still need our furnaces, especially during cold nights. There’s not a lot that is worse than going to bed at night just to find out your furnace won’t kick on. If your furnace won’t turn on, here are a couple things you can check yourself before your call BW/Cook Service Experts.
Check Air Filters
You should change standard air filters every 30 days. If you do not, they can become clogged, restricting air flow and causing your furnace to malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the actual room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t kick on. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem ridiculous, but confirm the power switch next to the heating system is “On.” Even gas heating equipment uses electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch wasn’t accidently moved to the “Off” position.
If you review all these things and your heating equipment will still not kick on, give BW/Cook Service Experts a call at 574-218-6404 and we’ll come out and take care of you as soon as possible.
