We are making our way through the last several weeks of winter but we still need our furnaces, especially during frigid nights. There’s not a lot that is worse than going to bed at night and realizing your furnace won’t kick on. If you find yourself in this situation, here are some things you can check yourself prior to calling Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing.
Check Air Filters
You should change standard air filters every 30 days. If you do not, they can end up clogged, restricting air flow and causing your furnace to malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
See if turning the temperature up a few degrees will get the furnace to turn on. If the current room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the heating system won’t turn on. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem obvious, but make sure the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas heating systems use electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch has not been accidently flipped to the “Off” position.
If you inspect all these things and your furnace will still not start up, give Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing a call at 866-397-3787 and we’ll come out and get you taken care of as soon as possible.
